First Light 
 
This flute was created in honour of new beginnings.  That beautiful moment when darkness begins to give way to light and we are reminded that every day offers us another opportunity to begin again. It was such a joy to create this flute. I worked as the sun was rising during the whole process. Made from Birch, a tree deeply connected with renewal and new growth, this flute carries the spirit of the first rays of the sun as they gently touch the world. There is something magical about that quiet moment before the day truly begins, when light slowly appears on the horizon and everything feels possible. Life also has its dawns. There are times when we find ourselves standing at the beginning of a new chapter, perhaps after a period of darkness, uncertainty or change. We may not know exactly where the path will lead, but the first light reminds us that we don't need to see the whole journey. We only need enough light to take the next step.The voice of this flute is bright and lively. She sings with the birds and carries joy within her. In honour of each precious new day and new beginnings I name this flute, 
First Light. 
 
She is in the key of A tuned to 432Hz and is crafted from Birch. This beautiful tree is a pioneer tree. One of the first to grow when the land is regenerating. A courageous and shining white light. A beacon for others to follow. The inlays are Turquoise for life giving Water. Yellow Agate for Father Sun and Red Serpentine for Mother Earth. The Spirit Bird  totem is handcrafted from Walnut lovingly foraged by my dad in Upstate New York. He has eyes of Turquoise to see with clarity the path ahead and is secured to the flute using lace from North American White-tailed Deer. The feathers are of Jay and Woodpecker foraged by myself here in Cornwall. Woodpecker helps us to remained focused a determined while Jay guides us to speak our truth and as well as being a strong protector. May the songs and prayers of this flutes sing with the birds and fly with beauty and grace.
