Native American Flute Making Workshops
Running flute making workshops is one of my favourite things to do, and they take place throughout the year here in Cornwall, UK. During the workshop, you’ll be guided step by step through the process of making your own Native American style flute by hand, in the same way I use to create my own instruments.
For the workshops, I work with bamboo, as it is already hollow, allowing us to complete a flute in a single day. Each workshop lasts around five hours and is kept intentionally small (a maximum of five participants) so everyone receives plenty of individual guidance. By the end of the day, you’ll have created a flute that not only looks beautiful, but sounds and feels wonderful too.
The atmosphere is always friendly and informal and filled with lots of stories, wisdom and joy. The workshops are open to anyone aged 12 to 112. No special skills or materials are required—just a willingness to create something meaningful and beautiful with your hands.
