Earth and Sky 
 
This flute was created during the Equinox season, a powerful time of balance and transition. At the Equinox, we find ourselves midway between the Solstices - a moment when day and night stand in balance as the wheel of the year continues to travel onwards. As I worked on this flute, I found myself feeling deeply into this balance of life. We are moving from summer towards winter, from light towards darkness, from the outward expression of life towards the quieter, inward journey. When this flute began to sing, I felt a beautiful meeting of feminine and masculine energy within her. It reminded me that these energies are not separate from us, but are held within each of us. There is a place within where strength and gentleness, action and stillness, giving and receiving can exist together. In honour of each of these within us I name this flute,
Earth and Sky
 
She is in the key of E tuned to 432Hz and it made of Black Bamboo carrying the feelings of deep nurturing from Mother Earth and the wisdom held within her heart. The inlay on the flute is Yellow Agate representing the Sun, warmth, vitality and the ever present protection of Father Sky. The Fox totem is handcrafted from Aromatic Red Cedar, lovingly foraged by my dad in Upstate New York. He has eyes of Turquoise to help us find our way on the path ahead and is secured to the flute using lace from North American White-tailed Deer. The feathers are of Tawny Owl and Red Kite foraged by myself. The Red Kite helps us to soar with grace and power into the unknown and the Tawny Owl is a great messenger and guide between all realms. May the songs and prayers of this flute connect with the Divine Masculine and Divine Feminine that lives within us all.
